Confession time: the first time I taught odd and even numbers, I reached for toilet paper… to count the squares. (Yes, really. 💀) Because no matter how “easy” it seemed, I had no idea how to explain it. It felt intuitive, but I couldn’t break it down. I thought TP would be a great way, but boy oh boy, in a matter of minutes all my students looked like toilet paper brides. So I built a better way—hands-on, visual, and rooted in number sense (not just lucky guesses). 🎥 In today’s new video, I’m walking you through: ✔️ The game I use every year to introduce odd/even ✔️ Why writing about math actually works ✔️ How I tie this standard to multiplication and arrays ✔️ The hilarious read-aloud that makes it all stick
Let’s teach this the way it should be taught: with confidence, creativity, and zero worksheets.
